The present study was conducted with the aim of designing a conceptual model of the motivation of tourists to sleep in tents for the development of tourism in Gilan province, so it is practical from the point of view of the goal. From a philosophical point of view, it is an interpretive research that was conducted with the inductive-comparative method and in order to achieve the goal, a mixed exploratory research design was used. Documentary (library) and field (interview) methods were used to collect the information needed for the research, and the method of data collection in terms of time horizon was carried out as a cross-sectional survey in the time period of winter 2023 to spring 2024. that is, tent-sleeping tourists. Sampling was done with a purposeful method and finally theoretical saturation was achieved with 21 Interviewerviews. The statistical population of the quantitative part was tent tourists, and the sample size was estimated to be 148 people using the power analysis method, and they were selected by cluster-random sampling. Interviewerviews were used in the qualitative part and researcher-made questionnaires were used in the quantitative part to collect the data. Data analysis was done in the qualitative section with the phenomenological method and MaxQDA software. In the quantitative part, partial least squares method and Smart PLS software were used. The research findings showed that economic motivations, love of nature, sense of adventure, individual factors, and personality characteristics of tourists are the most important motivations of camping tourists.
