Abstract
The main objective of the present study is to identify the training needs of local residents and determine their educational priorities based on the Borich model. The research data collection tool is based on the Borich questionnaire, which includes a list of competencies measured using a Likert scale to assess the current and desired status of individuals in each competency. The statistical population includes the indigenous residents of the Vanay tourism area, of whom 355 individuals were selected as the sample size using simple random sampling. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. According to the research findings, familiarity with health and safety standards in preparing, storing, and serving food and tourism services, waste management practices, and maintaining cleanliness and protecting local forests, rivers, and ecosystems were identified as the most important training needs. On the other hand, budgeting, saving, and personal financial management, collaboration and networking with other businesses and local institutions, and teamwork and collaboration skills to improve social interactions were considered the least important training topics from the residents' perspective. Residents demonstrated the highest level of skills in familiarity with historical and cultural sites and their values, preserving local traditions and customs, and communication and intercultural skills for interacting with tourists. Conversely, they showed the lowest level of skills in methods of sustainable use of natural resources (water, soil, and energy), the ability to learn languages to facilitate communication, and entrepreneurial and innovation skills to create job opportunities.
