Abstract
Intercultural communication is an equal interaction with speakers of other languages and respect for other identities. The development of tourism, one of the dynamic and effective industries in the economy of countries, requires effective intercultural communication. Communication is involved in all the actions of social life and is the constituent factor of cultural processes. The purpose of this research is to identify and rank the most important effective factors of intercultural communication in the development of Iranian tourism. The research was done with a descriptive survey method. Eleven factors were identified through documentary studies and interviews with experts in the field of tourism. Then, data and scenarios were analyzed using the fuzzy cognitive mapping technique and FCmapr software, and the research model was designed using social network analysis. Among the selected factors, diplomatic and political communication, cooperation with international media, and use of social media were the most important, respectively, because they were more central. Also, the scenario writing results show that removing the factor of diplomatic and political relations leads to a decrease in cooperation with international media, and this issue may reduce attention to the tourism industry and attract tourists to the country.
